Biography

Dr. JeeWon Cheong, who obtained her doctorate in Psychology from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior in the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). As a quantitative social psychologist with expertise in mediation analysis and longitudinal modeling, her research focuses on methods for testing mediation, applying state-of-the-art quantitative methods to health promotion and prevention research, and substance use and other risky health behaviors among adolescents and adults. Dr. Cheong serves as the primary methodologist for the Research Core of the Prevention Research Center and Center for the Study of Community Health at UAB, and serves as the coordinating liaison between the Behavioral and Community Science Core and the Biostatistics and Analysis Core in the UAB Center for AIDS Research. As a lead methodologist with expertise in content areas of substance use, HIV related risk behaviors, and community- and school-based intervention/prevention, she has led data analysis teams and coordinated the collaborative work of multiple substantive researchers and biostatisticians/methodologists.
