Biography

Birthplace: Adelaide, South Australia. Dental education Adelaide University. Graduate training in Oral Surgery and Oral medicine, Melbourne University. US National Institutes of Health Fellowship in research 1975-78,during which time I received a MS in Experimental Pathology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry as well as specialty certification in Periodontology.

From 1978-84 on Faculty University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. Then, until 1991 was Director of Didactics and Research, Department of Graduate Periodontology, Oregon Health and Sciences University.

1991-2009 in full-time specialty practice in Portland, Oregon. Throughout this time conducted research with Kaiser Permanante and the National Cancer Institute on Smoking Cessation, and Smokeless Tobacco Cessation.

From 2009 until now Chair, Department of Periodontics, University of Mississippi School of Dentistry.
