Research Interest

Research includes development of physical, chemical, and biological technologies for producing bioenergy and renewable biomaterials from animal wastes and agricultural residues, and for mitigating air and water pollution associated with animal agriculture, with emphasis on bioreactors development and evaluation; fermentative production of biohydrogen from animal wastes and agricultural processing wastewaters; bio-methane production from animal wastes and crop residues; bio-materials such as lactic acid production from animal wastes; surface aeration of manure storage lagoons and ponds for odor control; solids-liquid separation and chemical and physical processes for animal manure nutrient removal to reduce water pollution; development of a novel, nano-scale zeolite synthesized from coal fly ash for ammonium removal/recovery from digested animal manure.
