Biography

Heidi J. Silver, Ph.D., R.D.is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University. Sheis Director of the Vanderbilt Nutrition and Diet Assessment Core Lab where she trains and supervises registered dietitians, research assistants, medical students/residents/fellows, and nutrition students.Dr. Silver has an independent research program wherein she has designed and executed several large randomized controlled trials utilizing interventions to investigateeffects of modification of dietary macronutrients, diet plus medications (such as insulin), and diet plus exercise on energy balance, body composition, inflammation, endothelial function, insulin sensitivity, and cardiometabolic disease risk in adults and children.
