Professional Activities:

  • Scientific interests and activities of Stefano Berretti have dealt with the subjects of image analysis, 3D content analysis and multimedia. Particularly, he has delved into object recognition, image sequence analysis, and content based retrieval of images and 3D objects. Recently research activities have investigated new biometrics solutions based on 3D information acquired with the last generation of 3D scanner, ranging from high-resolution devices to low-resolution low-cost consumer cameras.
  • Stefano Berretti is the author of more than 100 publications dealing with image analysis, content-based retrieval from image and 3D objects databases and multimedia computing. His works have appeared in some of the most distinguished international journals and conference proceedings.
  • From 1998, he is a Member of IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition). From 2007, he is a Member of IEEE.

Professional  activities

Stefano Berretti worked as system engineer and acted as consultant for private companies in the field of Information  Technology:

  • From May 1997 to January 1998 collaborated as Engineer with the “Fratelli Alinari spa,” (the world’s oldest Photo Archive and the Photography’s History Museum) and with the research company “Sure- Sign,” Cheltenham (United Kingdom) for the development of an image watermarking system. This work has been carried out in the context of the European Project “IMPRIMATUR”.
  • From November 1997 to March 1998, collaborated as Engineer with the “Gruppo Abaco spa,” for the design and development of databases and web applications.
  • From September 2001 to October 2002 participated as Engineer to the development of the research database of the University of Florence.
