Dr. Gary Berkowitz graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1976.  He opened his own practice in East Meadow NY in 1981.  Having been an Associate Attending at Nassau County Medical Center Department of Dentistry for fourteen years, he joined the faculty of New York University College of Dentistry in 2001 as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  He was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in 2007 and appointed a Group Practice Director in 2008.  From 2005 – 2012 He was a member of PEARL an NIH funded Practice Based Research Network and served as a member of their Executive Committee, Practitioners Advisory Group, Practitioner Investigator and also the Principal Investigator of "Post Operative Hypersensitivity in Occlusal Restorations".  Since then he has participated as an investigator or principal investigator in multiple research projects ranging in topics from clinical application of products to evaluation of health screening methods.  In addition to multiple publications, he has been an invited presenter at both local and national meetings.
