Profile

Professor Ambikanandan Misra is currently Dean at Faculty of Technology and Engineering, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda since 23rd August 2011. He has been associated with the field of pharmaceutical sciences as an industrialist and an academician for more than 35 years. Key areas of his research are development of Novel Drug Delivery Systems which include nasal and pulmonary drug delivery systems, gene delivery vectors, protein delivery systems, cancer therapeutics, targeted nanocarriers and transdermal drug delivery systems. 37 PhD and about 111 Master students have completed their dissertation works under his guidance. He has 6 books, 40 book chapters and 141 peer reviewed publications in reputed journals to his credit. He is in editorial board of 12 internationally recognized journals and has been a reviewer for more than 50 international journals from publishers. He has filed 28 national and international patents(4) out of which 6 have been granted so far. He is recipient of many prestigious awards namely national award for TAPTEC research project entitled “Liposomal Dry Powder Inhalation” on a National Technology day from Vice-President of India, Best scientist of the year award by Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India in 2009 and many others. He is coordinating the activities of six major research project funded by government of India amounting above 300 million rupees. He is advisor to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries.

My research interests are in the field of pulmonary, nasal and transdermal drug delivery to treat local and systemic disorders.
