Biography

Dr Serge de Bustros is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a Senior Physician at Illinois Retina Associates in Harvey, Illinois. His clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes and macular puckers.

Dr de Bustros obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. He then completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a fellowship in medical and surgical retina at Johns Hopkins, where he joined the full-time faculty for five years.

He has authored or co-authored over a hundred publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in medical textbooks.

He is a member of several professional organizations including Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American Society of Retinal Specialists, Chicago Ophthalmological Society, Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the Macula Society and the Retina Society.
