Biography

Edita Stokić M.D. Ph.D, endocrinologist, Head of Department of Metabolic diseases, at Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, graduated in general medicine at the top of her class from Medical Faculty in Novi Sad. She received her PhD in 1997 from the University of Novi Sad, Medical Faculty in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Professor Edita Stokić is project coordinator on the subject of New Issues in Internal Medicine at postgraduate medical studies at Medical Faculty Novi Sad, and vicepresident of Serbian association for the Study of Obesity.
She is also honorary member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Comittee for evaluation and candidates proposal, and holds memberships in numerous prestigious societies like: Serbian Endocrinology Society, Serbian association for the Study of Obesity, Society for Medical Law, Serbian Society for Atherosclerosis, Expert Group for Obesity powered by Ministry of Health, Republic of Serbia, and State Expert Group for Endocrinology, as well as Chech Society for Atherosclerosis, European Atherosclerosis Society, European lipoprotein club, European Association for the Study of Diabetes, American Diabetes Association, International Association for the Study of Obesity, European Association for the Study of Obesity and member of Association of Clinical Research Proffesionals.
Her professional education was conducted in several European centers for endocrinology. In 2004 she was granted National Fellowship for vocational training from The Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE) under the International and European Associations for the Study of Obesity project.
She is also member of Editorial board for Serbian Archive of Medicine, Medical Review, as well as SM Journal of Food and Nutritional Disorders and Journal of Obesity and Chronic Diseases. She was chief editor at Vox Medicorum magazine from 2005 until 2007, published by Medical Society of Vojvodina.
She is author and co-author of 439 published scientific articles. According to SC index base she was cited 151 times (without autociting). She is author of 2 monographies and writer of chapters in 20 other books, monographies and textbooks, among them are two monographies with international interest and 4 National guidelines for Good Clinical Practice.  She wrote and edited few chapters in textbook of internal medicine, as well as in Clinical lipidology monograph, first of this kind in our country. Participant in 15 scientific projects, either as assistant or head manager. It si important to mention participation in MONICA project.

Professor Stokić has been awarded and placated many times.  Worth of mentioning are The best professor of Internal medicine award, Yugoslav Association for the Study of Obesity prize (1997) and Annual Award for scientific Research from Medical Society of Vojvodina (2008). She was appreciated for special contribution and support for organization of International Conference and Exhibition on Obesity and Weight Management, as Organizing Committee Member.
