Profile

Dr. Taspinar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Yuzuncu Yil University, Van, Turkey.  Dr. Taspinar, obtained his undergraduate degrees from Yuzuncu Yil University (YYU) and his medical and graduate training in PhD program at Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology, Ankara, Turkey.  Afterwards, he continued his postdoctoral training in molecular genetics of brain tumors at Faculty of Medicine in YYU.
The research focus of our team is to investigate all genes that may play role on the mechanisms of chemotherapeutic resistance in Glioblastoma (GB) and other types of brain tumors in terms of clinical, genetic and epigenetics status. Our current work includes finding novel biomarkers that able to show the results of clinical therapy before chemotherapy treatment in GB patients.  In addition, another focus of investigation is to development of novel therapy model by using natural and synthetic chemicals in primary cells of these patients. With this purpose, He is working at several national and international projects. Dr Taspinar and his team are performing primary culture from fresh tissues of GB patients and other molecular genetics techniques such as DNA damage (comet, tunel), RT-PCR, western Blottting, etc…

Dr. Taspinar has close collaborations with several national and international research groups that have been working cancer therapy.
