1997-2002 | Worked as an independent scientist on experimental epilepsy; long term effects of febrile convulsions; effects of neonatal epilepsy on adulthood; synaptic plasticity induced by opiates in hippocampus; animal models of epilepsy, such as kindling, kainic acid, pilocarpine, pentetrazol, febrile seizures etc.; cellular mechanisms of epilepsy and learning; behavioral models and tests such as water maze, elevated plus maze, radial arm maze etc.; neuropharmacology, psychopharmacology; effects of metabotropic glutamate receptors on epilepsy; electrophysiology, such as cellular electrophysiology, current clamp, voltage clamp, patch clamp; electrophysiological effects of anti-epileptic drugs (such as vigabatrin, alprazolam, phenytoin, gabapentin, propophol etc.) and psychoactive drugs; paired pulse technique to measure cellular GABAergic inhibition; long term potentiation (LTP); behavioral and electrophysiological mechanisms of ictal discharges, learning and LTP; various ictal slice models (CA3); metabotropic glutamate and NMDA receptors. |
