Profile

Dr. Craig G Burkhart, a board certified dermatologist, is a Clinical Professor at University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio and Clinical Assistant Professor at Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio.  After graduating cum laude from University of Pennsylvania with Phi Beta Kappa honors, he received his medical degree from University of Toledo College of Medicine. He subsequently did his medical and dermatology residencies at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He then became head of dermatology at the University Of Toledo College Of Medicine for three years before starting private practice in Sylvania, Ohio. 

Dr. Burkhart has six US patents in the area of acne, head lice, fungal infections, and ear wax.  His head lice product has been FDA approved and is being distributed by Arbor Pharmaceuticals.  He is presently editor of three dermatology journals having previously been editor of several other journals including the Journal of Dermatology and Allergy for the Practicing Physician.  He has co-written one book, written over 25 book chapters, and has published over 500 articles.  He has been awarded several research grants.  He has served in over 30 editorial boards and has served in several leadership positions including President of the Ohio State Dermatology Association.  His son, Craig N Burkhart, MD, MSBS is a prominent dermatologist presently serving on the faculty of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
