Biography

Prof. Óscar Lorenzo received his PhD in 2001 at the Autónoma University (Madrid). Currently, he is working as principal investigator in the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory at the IIS-FJD Hospital in the Autónoma University. His research has included studies in hypertension and diabetes effects on the cardiovascular system. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honours, such as: BIAL European Awards in 2000. He is serving as expert reviewer for journals like International J Cardiology, J Mol Cell Cardiol, Cardiovasc Diabetol, J hypertension, Am J Physiol Heart. He has authored more than fifty research articles/books, has been a member of national societies and networks of Diabetes and Cardiology, and was honoured as Professor of Research in 2011.
