Biography

Dr. Strevett is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science. Dr. Strevett earned his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut after completing a B.S. in Microbiology and Public Health and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. Dr. Strevett’s general research interest include sediment transport, fluvial geomorphology, water quality and biological treatment with support totally over $9.7 million in the past nineteen years with one of the NSF grants awarded under the CAREER program. As a result, he has authored or co-authored 49 refereed journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Dr. Strevett has advised thirty-five students towards the completion of their Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Dr. Strevett teaching a range of civil and environmental engineering classes which currently include Vector Mechanics: Statics (Su), Fluid Mechanics (Sp), Thermodynamics (F), Geomatics Engineering (F), Highway Engineering (Sp), Water and Wastewater Treatment Design (Sp), and Biological Design (alt. F). Through his teaching and service efforts, Dr. Strevett has been awarded four excellence in teaching awards (Regents Award for Teaching, Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma; George W. Tauxe, Outstanding Professor Award, University of Oklahoma); an environmental awareness award (Larry Canter, Influencing Environmental Awareness Award, University of Oklahoma), and a Distinguished Service Award.

Research Interest

Surface and ground water quality, development of indicators of water quality deterioration, biological treatment system design, ecological engineering, water reuse, fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, river design and geomatics engineering.
